After a long wait and many difficult challenges, yesterday our planning application for replacement facilities at Weir Quay was approved!
West Devon Borough Council Planning Committee voted 8 to 1, allowing planning officers to consent to our plans to build a replacement boat park and shed with toilets and changing area just 150 metres from our current temporary facilities. This good news means that the future of watersports activity at Weir Quay is at last secure – for both current members of the Sailing and Gig clubs and for generations to come of new sailors and rowers – as the clubs now have the opportunity to buy the freehold of the site.
Special thanks must go to all those who have worked tirelessly over the last four years to get us to this stage.
